New Nokia 3310 – Rebooting Nostalgia
Died a decade earlier, the Nokia 3310. The rebirth of the Nokia 3310 with increased weight, dimension and even more colorful, took place this month itself. This phone has a 2 Megapixel rare camera with Flash.
But what
about Internet connectivity? The real
big Question
Not present earlier also, even not today. But even today
some people are having more perception about the Brand name rather having
internet on mobile phone.
The predecessor was in every hand a decade earlier, whether it
is a collegiate or the door to door salesman. The 1999-2000 version of the
Nokia 3310 classic was a Blue / Silver hardy, weighty, button keypad phone with
a small Black n White display that comes to our mind first when we try to
remember it. No camera, no MP3 support either. Users were happy with calling
and sms only.
But times change and nothing is forever. Then, evolved the
semi smart phones with larger colorful displays, mp3 and video playback support
and ended the era of 3310’s and 3315.
By 2005 mobile phones were no longer a device used only for calling;
rather it was dealing a lot with picture and data. By this time Nokia had
already shut the manufacturing of the 3310, but they had already sold around
1.2 billion worldwide.
The design of this new 3310 was to keep the nostalgia alive,
although the successor does not have many differences either than the
predecessor. You can get 22 hours of talk time with full charge on this device.
This version has the MP3 playback option. 16MB of Internal storage and can be
extended upto 32GB with SD card. And yes, the old Snakes game is also present.
There is a rumor about its launch in India around May 2017
and price will be around INR 4K with brand name of NOKIA and manufacturer HMD
Global.
So, why there is so much BUZZ around regarding this ordinary device? And who is going to buy it actually?
Although the current market trend is inclined of being nostalgic,
that one can guess with the huge comeback of Royal Enfield in India. Even the Ambassador
is also planning a restart this year. So, why not NOKIA. It’s nothing but just
hope that people will accept NOKIA’s flagship device one again.
A photographer will always prefer the conventional film SLR rather
than the Digital SLR. In my opinion it will not be able to quench the technical
hunger that we are into today. But, rather this device could be the cheap second
option to people having one smart phone already.
As Smartphone’s today are infamous of their battery lives,
and keeping two smart phones feels like overload, this small device can come
very handy when you have just 5% of battery left on your smart phone and need
to do some calls urgently. For the aged people and those who are not very
internet savvy the NOKIA 3310 is going to bring the lost times back.
